How To Use AirDrop On Unsupported Older Macs

You can do that pretty easily by following these steps:

  • Open Terminal from Applications (Utilities folder)
  • Enter following commands in Terminal window and just hit Enter

defaults write com.apple.NetworkBrowser BrowseAllInterfaces 1

killall Finder

  • You will find that AirDrop option will be show up beneath the favorites menu in Finder sidebar.

Later on if you want to disable the AirDrop feature, just repeat the above steps, but use  “0” instead of “1” in command in Terminal window:

defaults write com.apple.NetworkBrowser BrowseAllInterfaces 0

sudo killall Finder
